Thirty Before 30: #16

16: Play on a team sport.
Yes, I had already begun this one. But, in 29 years it's the first time I've ever played a team sport. What can I say? I was too busy taking dance, piano, being in the band, theatre, etc to play a sport. Yes, I realize I pretty much described the quintessential geek.
Waiting for the pitch.
And the kick!
Unfortunately, when this was taken I got out. But, I did get on base several times.

Thirty Before 30: Mark one off the list!

20: Learn to can like my mama. I [successfully] accomplished this and can cross it off my list! I made homemade pear jam and canned it.
Christopher had to work late Friday night, so I had myself a little canning party of 1.

Peeling the pears with my awesome Victorinox peeler I bought in Switzerland.
Coring the pears with my awesome Pampered Chef corer.
Chopped up fine in the food processor.

Cook the chopped pears with sugar and gelatin.
Boiing the jars and lids. The key to canning so that you can seal the jars (so they don't have to be refrigerated) is to have the jam, jars, seals and lids super hot.
Waiting for all the jars to "ping!" This lets me know that they have sealed. They ping and then the dent in the top of the lid isn't popped up anymore. You know, like when you buy something at the store and it says if the seal is broke don't buy it? Well, that's exactly what that is. It was so exhilierating to hear them all ping. Christopher got on the action, too. I was upstairs when the 12th one pinged. We both heard it and got really excited. SUCCESS!
Pear jam on English muffins. Yum!
Christopher enjoying a little Saturday morning breakfast (and a little product placement for Magna Bank)

Preview: Working on list item #2!

Stay tuned!!!

Thirty before 30

As some of y'all already know, I turn the big 3-0 3 months from today. Although I make jokes about being old, I'm not too upset by hitting this new milestone. I do sometimes wonder, when did this happen?! Didn't I just turn 25? Anyway, as I sit and reflect on the past 30 years I am fully aware how wonderfully God has blessed me and how many awesome opportunities I have had over the years. However, I thought it would be fun to come up with a list of 30 things to do in the last 90 days before I leave my twenties.

I looked at some other people's lists and most of the had started their list on their 29th birthdays, and some even on their 25th and 21st! So, I don't have things listed like live in France, or read 100 books. But, I'm pretty excited about the list I've come up with. Some are serious goals, some are silly things  and some are just things I've always  wanted to try and figured there's no better time than the present.

So, without further ado here's THE LIST:

1: Meet Dave Brown (local weatherman, there is a story behind this I will explain after I accomplish this)

2: Learn a song on the guitar

3: Take ballroom dance lessons

4: Decide what I want to do with my life

5: Be actively involved in a charity
6: Try a new food that is something so bizarre it will make people go WHAT?!
7: Do at least one touristy thing in Memphis I've never done
8: Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
9: Write a letter to the editor
10: Ice skate at Rockefeller Center
11: Make a gourmet meal
12: Go to Graceland 2
13: Paint a picture
14: Floss regularly accomplished Sept.
15: Regular work-out schedule
16: Play a team sport started playing on a kickball team the beginning of September
17: Put $30 on black.
18: Watch the sunrise
19: kiss my husband in the rain (like in The Notebook)
20: Learn to can like my mama
21: Successfully learn to play tennis
22:  Drive a bad @$$ car
23: Be able to fit into designer jeans I got for a steal!
24: Go without make-up
25: Ride my bike to work
26: Volunteer in political election
27: Learn to drive a stick
28: Get my handgun carry permit
29: Celebrate my birthday in style!
30: Think of all the wonderful blessings God's given me in the first 30 years and wait in anticipation for all the wonderful blessings to come!

So, that's the list. I feel pretty confident I can get all this done. I just have to do 2-3 things a week. Easy, peasy. I will post on each of these things as they happen with a picture (except for # 19). Thanks for following me on this journey. Stay tuned!!!
