Memorial Day Weekend

Hope all y'all have recovered from the weekend.  We had a fabulous weekend but it was jam packed! In fact I started typing this Tuesday night and ended up falling asleep! I apologize in advance for the layout of the pictures. Blogger is being totally weird and I'm losing my patience.

Friday night, while our fellas were at a bachelor party my friend Ashley and I went out for a girls's night. Needless to say, we were a little hungry!
Saturday, we were up bright and early and drove down to Sardis to my in-laws' lake house. We enjoyed a nice day out on the boat and of course the jetski.
Saturday afternoon, we headed back to Memphis to cheer on our Memphis Grizzlies in the Western Conference Finals!!! This is the first time they've ever made it this far.

We had a blast. Sadly, they lost Monday night. But, we are still proud of them and our city. It was awesome to see everyone come together and cheer for a common goal. Grit n grind! Oh, and we got to see Magic Johnson! He was there commentating on the game.

Sunday night, we went to celebrate the marriage of our friends Kris and Alyssa. It was a sweet ceremony and a great reception.

Being silly. We had a blast dancing, made obvious by how sweaty we are!

The happy couple!
Monday, needless to say, we were exhausted. This was my view that afternoon:
A few friends came over and we all just chilled at the pool. It was a nice relaxing afternoon.

Love this guy!

Christopher grilled his famous jerk chicken that night and I made corn salad. It gave me a chance to use my corn kernal "thingy" from Pampered Chef!

Corn salad recipe can be found here. It's so yummy!!! It's a perfect side dish for a BBQ or cookout.

Fantastic weekend. It's only taken me 'til Thursday to get it posted! And the following pic just goes to show that some guys just can't handle Memorial Day.

Saturday I didn't feel well, so I spent the day in sweats. And unshowered. No one needs to see that. :)

Have a great Memorial Day everyone! I am so thankful for all our men and women in arms. Let's not forget that freedom isn't free.

Especially grateful for my lil bro who is currently serving in Afghanistan right now.
Thank you to for continuing to keep in him your prayers.

Concert Crazy

This Sunday Sir Paul McCartney is performing in Memphis. Alas, sadly I will not be there.

Oh, Paul I would love to see you but I can't believe you charge so much for your tickets. You are the richest man in the UK. Do you really need to charge that much? I looked at the setlists from other cities on this tour and I am sad I will be missing you sing "Hey, Jude." But I take comfort in my memory of seeing you in 1993. I was 10 and you played the Memphis Colliseum. The tickets were $37.50 and 20 years ago (Sheesh! That makes me feel OLD!) that was a lot of money. My mom took me to the show on a school night and your wife Linda was with you and played the keyboard. You sang "Saw her Standing There," "Magical Mystery Tour," and when you sang "Live and Let Die," fireworks came up off the stage. So, I take comfort in the fact that at least I have seen you once and that's better than none.

Anyway, all this looking back on my first and only Paul McCartney concert has got me to thinking about all the concerts I've been to. The list is long (and in no particular order):

 - The Beach Boys (can't even tell you how many times, but one time John Stamos was the guest drummer I was so excited to see "Uncle Jesse!")
 - Styx
 - Grand Funk Railroad
 - The Steve Miller Band
 - Kansas
 - Huey Lewis and the News
 - America
 - Foreigner
 - Journey (x2)
 - Bon Jovi (x5, if you count the performance he did when I was at the Inaugural Ball)
 - Bruce Springsteen (x4)
 - Rascal Flatts (x2)

 - The Monkees
 - Lonestar

 - The New Kids on the Block (x2)
 - Cheap Trick (x2)
 - Heart
 - Herman's Hermits
 - Night Ranger
 - The Eagles
 - Nsync
 - George Strait (x2)
 - Dierks Bentley (x2)

 - Better Than Ezra (x2)
 - YES
 - Matchbox Twenty

- Jordin Sparks
My concert partner-in-crime
- Justin Bieber (husband's idea NOT mine)
- Ludacris
- Blondie
- Pat Benatar

Some of these were at music fests, some were warm ups, but all were live performaces that I attended. If you haven't noticed, I was born a few decades too late. What concerts have YOU been to?

We Don't Bluff City

Memphis is known as the Bluff City. We're pretty passionate about our basketball here. I was never really into the Memphis Grizzlies until I met Christopher. Yeah, I'd been to a few games and once had even had court side seats but I couldn't tell you any of the players or the coach. My, my how things have changed! I love the Grizz! The past 3 years I've so enjoyed going to games and watching them from home. It's something the whole city gets behind and gives us all a sense of camaraderie. I'm so rolled we ate in the Western Conference Finals! While game 1 was a disaster I have full confidence we can make a comeback!
I find they do better when I don't watch the whole game. So tonight I went upstairs and ironed, but I wore my headband! Christopher watches intently. (Notice he got to wear the hoodie tonight.) Even Marty and Libby believe!!!

Grit n grind, friends!

Hotty Toddy Hoodie

If you read this regularly, see pics on Facebook, or just know me you will know that I love to wear C's Ole Miss hoodie. I didn't even go there. But, I love it. It's so comfy. So let's take a look at all the places the hoodie has gone, seen, etc.

It's been so many more places than this. I LOVE this sweatshirt. In colder months, I wear it every night when I get home from work. Yes, it was originally C's. He wears it sometimes, but I've pretty much commandeered it.

I'm sure you're wondering if I keep my work clothes on after work, since I never post anything else on the week days. That's because I come home and either go to the gym or put on yoga pants and a tee shirt or Christopher's Ole Miss hoody. Here is what I normally wear to boot camp:
Nike Dri Fit Socks (amazing! They make such a difference. Your feet don't sweat!)
Nike tennis shoes my hubby got for me
Old Navy Active Tank
Old Navy Fold Over Yoga Pants
I pretty much buy all my work-out clothes at Old Navy. It's comfortable, it's affordable and it's cute.

Haven't repeated an outfit yet! We'll see how week 3 goes!
